A Little Background About Us

In February, 1997, we met in the #newbies channel on IRC and began e-mailing. Our friendship grew into a loving relationship after daily e-mails and chatting online. Harold went to California in August 1997, and after meeting face-to-face we found that what we shared on-line was carried over into Real Life! We didn't want to wait any longer to be together and started the Immigration process for Harold, hoping that he would move to the States in January 1998.

Suzanne spent Christmas 1997 at Harold's house in the Netherlands and while she was there it was decided that she would move there! Suzanne quit her job, sold almost everything and left California to meet Harold in the Detroit, Michigan airport on March 7th, 1998. From Detroit we flew to Saginaw Airport, then drove to Suzanne's mom's house. Harold met her family and enjoyed a "Thanksgiving" dinner with them. Everyone was finally glad to meet the man who was taking away Suzanne!

On March 12th we boarded the airplane and headed to Amsterdam to begin our new life together. We arrived in Amsterdam on Friday the 13th (no bad luck there!). When we arrived at Harold's house we found an arch of balloons welcoming us home, and found yellow tulips and a cake waiting for us inside. Harold's dad had also bought Suzanne a new bike! He had promised that if she moved to Holland that he'd buy her one, so he kept his promise!
